Big Bucks won the World Hurdle a staggering four times from 2009, to 2012

The Stayers’ Hurdle is one of the bigger betting races at the Cheltenham Festival, despite being the least prestigious of the four championship races. The race has suffered from a lack of identity over the years. Previously it was known as the Stayer’s Hurdle, before changing to the World Hurdle.

When the festival switched to 4 days, it became the championship race for the Thursday, giving it more prestige. In 2017 it then changed it’s name back to the Stayers’ Hurdle, which it is still known as now.
